Meet Mrs. Meagan

Shalom! My name is Meagan and this will be my third year teaching at B'nai Israel. I moved to Gainesville in 2015 from Pittsburgh, PA where I received my BA in theatre arts, and am now semi-retired after 20 years.  Gardening has been a part of my life since I was a kid and have practiced since.  I have managed markets for local farmers, been a beekeeper, worked with butterflies, and am currently enrolled in the Florida Master Naturalist Program. I also volunteer at Grow-Hub & am a member of the Florida Native Plant Society. I cannot wait to share my knowledge and grow together!

Meet Ms. Rebecca (Bec)

Hello! My name is Rebecca Welch (just like the grape juice) and I'm so happy to be a part of the B'nai Israel family! I studied Art Education at Santa Fe College before continuing my degree at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and finishing my Bachelors Degree at the University of Arts London.

I am so excited to cultivate a curious exploration of the art world with your kiddos!

Meet Ms. Lauren

Lauren was born and raised in New Jersey but then moved to Atlanta to attend college at Emory University to study History and Theater studies. She then came to Gainesville, Florida to study Environmental Education at University of Florida where she graduated with a Master’s degree. After her last year at UF, she worked at B’nai Israel Day School as a floater before leaving Florida for several years to work seasonally in Denali National Park, Alaska as a hiking guide. When COVID cancelled the 2020 season of guiding in Alaska, Lauren met her husband, Nathan, in Gainesville and decided to stay and found a job running a Parenting Program at a local non-profit called Project YouthBuild. Now, Lauren is busy being a mom to James who will be starting in the One’s class, studying at Syracuse University College of Law in their hybrid JD program, and teaching music/movement at B’nai Israel. She is so excited to be back with BICDS again and getting to guide children to love to dance, sing, and play music.
