Our local schools need our assistance more than ever before. In addition to the typical back to school supplies, plastic pencil boxes are very much needed this year, so that every child can have their own pencil box for supplies, to help keep them safe. Cleaning supplies are also in high demand as teachers will be taking on the task of extra sanitizing and cleaning to ensure the children in our community, and those around them, are as protected from Covid-19 as they can be. You can find the list of supplies on Amazon by clicking HERE. You can have supplies shipped directly to the synagogue, or you can arrange a time to drop them off in person. We will then deliver the supplies to the local organizations we are working with to have them distributed to those in the greatest need. If you are using Amazon, please also visit and search for "Congregation Bnai Israel" Each purchase you make will help our congregation.

As always, food is scarce for so many. Bread of the Mighty is an organization we partner with to help feed those in our community who would otherwise go without. You can drop donations off at the synagogue office, and we ask that you let us know prior to drop off so that we can arrange a contactless donation. We will take care of delivering your contributions. Please be aware that these organizations are unable to accept food that has expired.

We all know how difficult it can be to carry and care for a small child. We also know it takes a village. Help us be a part of the village that supports women and babies in need by donating formula, diapers, new bottles, maternity clothes, and baby clothes from preemie to toddler. Supporting mothers and children strengthens the future of our world, and we can help contribute today to that more equitable future. You can contact the synagogue office to arrange a drop off time for your donation.

Feeding the hungry is one of the most important things we can do. Please visit the Lev Tov website HERE for more information and to sign up to help feed those at the St. Francis House. Congregation B'nai Israel began serving meals at St. Francis House around 1990, when it was coordinated by long-time congregant, Elsa Kula. It was known as the St. Francis House Committee of Congregation B'nai Israel until 2004. At that time the program named was changed to Lev Tov, meaning good heart.

Anyone can participate in Lev Tov. It is an easy program to be a part of and we welcome you to join us if you have done it before or if this is your first time to volunteer.

We want your shoes! If  you have gently worn sneakers, please consider donating them. You can drop them off at the synagogue office, and we will handle delivery from there. Please note that the shoes needed by this organization are sneakers. Also, did you know that one of the items most needed for the homeless are socks? Please consider picking up a pack of socks next time you're at the store or on Amazon, and donating them. We are happy to get them where they need to go.

Amazon Smile sends a donation of .5% of purchase price to the charitable organization of your choice for every eligible purchase you make. Choose B'nai Israel by visiting and searching for Congregation Bnai Israel. Amazon will remember the organization you choose, and purchases in the future will continue to benefit our congregation.
