Sixth/Seventh Grade

ebrew Benchmarks/Expectations

All students are expected to have reached several benchmarks/milestones in their Hebrew language progress by the end of the the year. The Chavaya teachers will help students reach these milestones during the Sunday Hebrew classes and 1-on-1 Hebrew tutoring sessions during the week. 

Sixth/Seventh Grade Benchmarks:

• Basic understanding of Hebrew grammar and sentence structure
• 60-100 words in Hebrew and the meanings
• Learn and recite the grade prayer requirement

Prayer Requirements:

All students are expected to learn several prayers by the end of each grade. All materials and prayers will be linked below for you to help your students practice and learn these prayers at home as well as in the classroom. 

Sixth Grade Requirements:

• Recite the Haftarah blessings and Kadish Shalem

Seventh Grade Requirements:

• B'nai Mitzvah preparations (Torah, Haftarah and services)
