Second/Third Grade

Hebrew Benchmarks/Expectations

All students are expected to have reached several benchmarks/milestones in their Hebrew language progress by the end of the the year. The Chavaya teachers will help students reach these milestones during the Sunday Hebrew classes and 1-on-1 Hebrew tutoring sessions during the week.

Second/Third Grade Benchmarks:

• Recite the alef-bet
• Know the Hebrew numbers and colors
• Know basic synagogue terms
• Learn and recite the grade prayer requirement

Prayer Requirements:

All students are expected to learn several prayers by the end of each grade. All materials and prayers will be linked below for you to help your students practice and learn these prayers at home as well as in the classroom. 

Second Grade Requirements:

• Recite the Shema and V'ahavta, Modeh Ani, Hinay Matov

Third Grade Requirements:

• Blessings before and after Torah readings, Saturday Morning Kiddush
