Hebrew Benchmarks/Expectations

All students are expected to have reached several benchmarks/milestones in their Hebrew language progress by the end of the the year. The Chavaya teachers will help students reach these milestones during the Sunday Hebrew classes and 1-on-1 Hebrew tutoring sessions during the week. 

Kindergarten/First Grade Benchmarks:

• Recite the alef-bet
• Know all of the Hebrew vowels and how they sound
• basic Hebrew reading (sounding out words and syllables)
• Learn and recite the grade prayer requirement

Prayer Requirements:

All students are expected to learn several prayers by the end of each grade. All materials and prayers will be linked below for you to help your students practice and learn these prayers at home as well as in the classroom. 

Kindergarten/First Grade Requirements:

• Recite the Shema 
• Perform the first line of Shema in sign language
