Fourth/Fifth Grade

Hebrew Benchmarks/Expectations

All students are expected to have reached several benchmarks/milestones in their Hebrew language progress by the end of the the year. The Chavaya teachers will help students reach these milestones during the Sunday Hebrew classes and 1-on-1 Hebrew tutoring sessions during the week. 

Fourth/Fifth Grade Benchmarks:

  • Speak 40-50 words in Hebrew and know the meaning of each
  • Hebrew reading proficiency
  • Basic understanding of the difference between modern Hebrew and Hebrew from the Siddur
  • Learn and recite the grade prayer requirement

 

Prayer Requirements:

All students are expected to learn several prayers by the end of each grade. All materials and prayers will be linked below for you to help your students practice and learn these prayers at home as well as in the classroom. 

Fourth Grade Requirements:

  • Recite the Friday night Kiddush and the Avot (Beginning of the Amidah)

 Fifth Grade Requirements:

  • Recite the Ashrei, Aleinu and Lecha Dodi

Meet the Teachers!

Adina Birnhole:

Hi! My name is Adina Birnhole. I grew up in Vero Beach, Fl. Growing up, my dad was the only Rabbi in the area, so I began teaching about Judausm in High School. I am currently a masters students at the University of Florida, studying Structural Engineering. After I graduate, I plan to move to D.C to work with an engineering firm. I am glad to be working with Chavaya again and I am looking forward to a great year with our 4th and 5th graders!
