General Operating Fund
We rely on contributions to support our general operating expenses, which include: staffing our organization with capable, helpful and friendly professionals; securing and maintaining our building; and offering a full schedule of ongoing services to our congregation and the community. Show your appreciation for the congregation with a gift to the general operating fund.

Building Fund
Contributions to the Building Fund help us to pay the mortgage for the new wing, which includes the community room, school offices and our large playground area. Contributions to the building fund also support building contingency expenses, that is, major repairs for our aging building.

Cemetery Fund
Donations to the cemetery fund support the operating expenses and beautification efforts in our Jewish cemetery, located at the corner of Waldo Road and University Avenue.

Ed Chester Library Fund
Gifts to the Ed Chester Library Fund allow our Library Committee to purchase new and relevant books, films and periodicals. Demonstrate your commitment to life-long learning and love of literature with a gift to the Library Fund. With a donation of $36 or more to this fund, a dedication book plate will be placed in a new library book, in addition to acknowledgement by contribution card and in the synagogue newsletter.

Dora Geld Friedman Religious School Fund
Our Religious School program, called Chavaya! A Great Jewish Experience, provides our youth with engaging and fun educational opportunities that instill in them a love of Jewish life and learning. Gifts to the Dora Geld Friedman Religious School Fund help fuel our program for students in Kindergarten-7th grade. To understand the effects of your contributions to this fund, please join us on a Chavaya Shabbat (the first Shabbat of each month), or speak with our Chavaya director, Suzanne Chester.

Community Day School Fund
Children in the B’nai Israel Community Day School learn Hebrew words and greetings, celebrate Shabbat with songs and brachot, and experience the Jewish year with seasonal songs, Torah stories and holiday celebrations. Day School Director Debby Kinman-Ford would be delighted to share with you more highlights and success stories from our school. If you’d like to express your support of our school, consider making a contribution to the Day School Fund. Your gifts help us to continue to provide an excellent Jewish and secular early childhood education.

Goldstein Early Childhood Fund
This fund was established to benefit the Day School in three specific areas: provide tuition scholarships to Jewish families make physical improvements to the school and promote programs that involve Day School parents in the broader Jewish community.

Kiddush Fund
Who doesn’t love Kiddush lunches at B’nai Israel? The Kiddush fund allows us to provide the Shabbat noshes that feed us physically, spiritually and socially. Your gift to the Kiddush fund contributes to the expenses associated with providing Kiddush lunches each week. We’d also like to mention that you can sponsor a mini-kiddush lunch with a gift of $154 or more. Call the office to reserve an upcoming mini-kiddush.

Youth Fund
United Synagogue Youth exposes our teens to a peer group of Jewish youth - not only from Gainesville but from surrounding communities as well.  Relationships fostered through USY nurture and sustain the Jewish identity of our youth.  Gifts to the Youth Fund allow us to offer scholarships for B’nai Israel youth to attend conferences where they interact with their peers from other congregations.

Once the specific program or purchase has been funded, all remaining monies within that fund may be available for general operating use.
