Mission Statement:

Chavaya! A Great Jewish Experience is a school program based on fun, experiential learning techniques that support our students in developing a love of Jewish life and learning. The curriculum includes Hebrew and prayer, Torah, Jewish food, Jewish history, the Jewish lifecycle, Shabbat, holidays, Jewish ethics and a variety of special topics.

About Chavaya:

Our growing program of over 40 students do more than study the basics of Hebrew prayer. Our students are guided by a curriculum centered on experiential learning and a passion for the Jewish culture and language. Chavaya celebrates the joys of the Jewish calendar with plenty of hands-on activities. In the last year, Chavaya students made their own terrariums for Tu B’shevat, fermented their own pickles for the B'nai Israel Jewish Food Festival, made creative dioramas of several Jewish communities, and participated in a special youth oriented seder for Passover with Rabbi Kaiman.

Chavaya aims to strengthen our students’ connection to the Hebrew language through a variety of means. This year, we will introduce our students to a multileveled curriculum called Mitkadem, a self-paced program to be implemented by our many returning teachers.
